Respect: “You can’t give what you don’t have, and you can expect what you don’t give” Ian Edwards 

Many have heard the term that respect is earned. That is true to an extent; however, many people often think that you have to get respect before you can give it. That’s not always the case. We have to remember that we serve a cause greater than ourselves, and we give respect because we respect ourselves and the profession. And many of the people we come in contact with don’t have respect to begin with, so how do you expect them to give it?

If we can learn to reverse this formula, and give respect to those who have none for themselves, we might present an opportunity for them to have something to give back. Respect is contagious, and is the main ingredient in the recipe for making a difference.

Don’t ever lose your human behind that badge…
